On Thursday, January 30th, members of Harry R Bartlett American Legion Post 89, East Haven attended the public hearing of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee at the Connecticut General Assembly. We were graciously greeted in the rotunda by Senator Ciccarella and Representative Candelora. We enjoyed a tour of the Statehouse, followed by the meeting.

Jim was a beloved member of the Legion, a tireless advocate for Veterans, a pillar in our community and a Proud Marine.
We will miss Jim tremendously.
To honor Jim, take in the beauty of nature, appreciate the blessings in every sunrise and sunset and thank those that serve.
On Saturday, June 24th, members of the American Legion Post 89 had the honor of working with our brother service organization Knights of Columbus in service to veteran Bill Pemberton. Bill is the recipient of House of Heroes support for improving access to his beautiful gardens and to his home in East Haven. Members had a blast, got plenty dirty and met some new friends who love volunteering as much as we do!
For our first coffee and conversation group, we were joined by 14 residents, and with 6 Post members, we filled the room! Following the Pledge, we invited all to honor our missing and unaccounted for soldiers by reading America’s White Table. While Jack read, Fred and Ed set the table. The story helps us remember to include a place at our gatherings for those soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen who have yet to come home. The work continues every day to repatriate the remains of our fellow service members.
We were treated to afternoon beverages and shared some lively discussions. Thank you Mariners Point!
Ed Jackowicz, Ernie Perno, Butch Mannochi and Wendy Bellmore, all members of American Legion Post 89 visit with fellow Legion Member Kevin Ward and his wife Louise on St. Patrick's Day. The four were honored to present Kevin with a beautifully sewn Quilt of Valor. Thank you to the Sewing for God Group of United Methodist Church of Branford.
